Ambulance transportation is essentially “mobile intensive care” and we would not be very mobile if it were not for the “intensive” care of our Fleet Maintenance Division.
Coastal operates a fleet of Ford Type 1, 2, and 3 ambulances. We consider ourselves very fortunate that when we built our current headquarters in 2001 that we were able to accommodate our Fleet Maintenance Division on site with us. Bringing together our Operations Team and Fleet Maintenance Team has enabled us to coordinate our fleet servicing and repair efforts in a more timely and effective manner, resulting in fewer vehicles experiencing down time.
Our Maintenance Director, an ASE certified MasterTech mechanic, with 36 years of experience and 23 years with the company, is responsible for the proper maintenance of our ambulance fleet. On site we are capable of conducting most all repair jobs, including tire remounts, brakes, general servicing, A/C repair and road calls, subletting only the major time-consuming and warranted repair work.
All maintenance services are performed in our fully functional enclosed two bay garage, furnished with two lifts, a portable reserve-fueling tank and an adjacent wash bay all located at our central office. This allows the mechanic to have easy access to the ambulance crews, dispatchers and managerial support. This access makes the coordination for servicing, repairs and information gathering seamless and effective.
