Experienced, equipped, and disaster tested: Coastal remains steadfast and prepared to fulfill its mutual aid commitment to our fellow EMS agencies, our patients and the community at large.
Coastal has weathered Florida’s unpredictable and at times treacherous hurricane seasons for over 28 years and when called upon we have assisted in the evacuation of local hospitals, healthcare facilities and special needs residents to safety, only to return them home again after the storms have passed.
Our communications and computer centers along with two crew bunkers are housed in a hardened area run by generator power. Along with our own on-site fueling systems, we are able to maintain operations during storms or other disaster activities. We also stock food and supplies needed to feed staff that have committed to and support the pre and post recovery efforts.
Now, as we are faced with the changing times that include issues more biological in nature, we have invested in biohazard decontamination equipment and maintain a three-month inventory of specialized personal protective equipment to ensure our full operations in the event of a pandemic or other outbreak that may affect crew, facilities and supply chains. All of this results in a high level of self-sufficiency. Coastal can always be counted on to remain on duty, in service and a reliable component of the Emergency Operations Response Team.
