Why Coastal

Coastal Ambulance is an employee-friendly, private, not-for-profit ambulance service located along the sunny coastal waterways of Brevard County Florida.

We are responsible for providing interfacility non-emergency Advanced and Basic Life Support ambulance service. “Interfacility” means our Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians are afforded the benefit of sometimes spending extended periods of clinical time providing quality care to each of their patients. Instead of minutes with a patient, in some cases our crews are responsible for patient care for 30 minutes to several hours. This extended care time provides a great opportunity to develop a wonderful rapport with the patient and fine tune core patient care skills, such as patient assessment, monitoring and patient empathy. We are the sole ambulance provider in the area that does not require fire standards as a condition of employment; our role in the community and EMS continuum of care is purely medical in nature.

Coastal employs over 80 dedicated men and women: full and part-time to staff our fleet of 18 ambulances. Our company serves the county’s 72 mile long population base of over 545,000 people. We are located 40 miles east of Orlando and are 3 hours from Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale. We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to serve amongst some of the leading healthcare providers in our community to include seven hospitals which between them host a level two-trauma center, two Neonatal Intensive Care Units, and three JCAHO approved stroke and cardiac centers. In addition to great hospital systems, we also have a variety of comprehensive medical providers as well. Brevard County is home to 21 skilled nursing facilities, a rehabilitation hospital, a ventilator support hospital, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a VA clinic and numerous radiation and dialysis centers. Coastal remains ready to support all of these outstanding providers 24 hours a day.

We are always seeking motivated, service oriented employees. Our Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians respond to over 16,000 calls annually throughout a service area of over 1000 square miles. Our service area ranges from transports within Brevard County to longer distance transports throughout and beyond the state of Florida.

At Coastal, you will use the latest, state-of-the-art equipment, including Ferno ProFlex stretchers, Phillips MRX diagnostic quality cardiac monitors, Motion Tablets to write electronic run reports and other specialized equipment such as bariatric equipment. Our Paramedics enjoy working under progressive standing order protocols and specialty care transport policies.

As one of only ten CAAS accredited ambulance services in the state of Florida, we embrace the concept of quality and commitment. After reviewing the job description and benefits sections of our website, perhaps the question that should be asked is not “Why Coastal” but Why am I not already part of the Coastal team?

COASTAL MAKES CONNECTIONS FOR LIFE.
